Freshman Benedictine Scholarship

The College of St. Scholastica annually awards Benedictine Scholarships to admitted students who demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and potential. With award levels totaling between $36,000 and $54,000 over four years, ours is one of the most competitive scholarship programs in the nation. As a service to interested students, you may use the following calculator to determine your eligibility for one of these awards. Fill in your cumulative GPA and your composite ACT or SAT score, and your scholarship level will be automatically calculated (the award displayed will be the amount of the Benedictine Scholarship per year).

In addition to their Benedictine Scholarship, students who are the valedictorian of their high school graduating class or have achieved either a 30 ACT composite or a 1330 SAT composite (critical reading and math), will be awarded an additional $1,500 scholarship per year.

Q: What criteria do you take into consideration for the Benedictine Scholarship?
A: We look at cumulative GPA and composite ACT or SAT scores. We do not use high school rank to determine Benedictine Scholarship level.

Q: What are the different levels of the Benedictine Scholarship?
A: Presidential - $13,500 per year; $54,000 over four years;
Trustee - $12,000 per year, $48,000 over four years;
Dean's - $9,000 per year; $36,000 over four years
The Access Grant is also offered - $7,500 per year; $30,000 over four years

Q: Is my Benedictine Scholarship level determined upon application, or can it be changed if my grades go up or I score better on the ACT or SAT?
A: Although your Benedictine level is determined based on the information you provide at the time of application, if throughout the year your GPA and/or ACT or SAT test score improve, your award will be increased accordingly.

Q: Is the Benedictine Scholarship automatically incorporated into the financial aid package or do we have to apply for this scholarship?
A: The Benedictine is automatically incorporated into your financial aid award. You do not have to fill out a separate application.

Q: What do I have to do to keep this scholarship?
A: You must maintain a minimum of a 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA in order to keep the Benedictine Scholarship.

Q: Is the Benedictine Scholarship a renewable scholarship, and if so, do I need to reapply for it?
A: Yes. The Benedictine Scholarship is renewable after the first year, for as long as you are enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student. You do not need to reapply, as the scholarship renews automatically if minimum requirements are met.

Q: Will the Benedictine Scholarship affect any other scholarships that I may receive?
A: No. The Benedictine Scholarship is considered a merit-based scholarship. Other institutional merit or talent-based scholarships will be added in total to your award package.
