Scholarship Criteria

The CSSyes Scholarship is designated to provide additional opportunities for students with solid academics and great need. It covers the remainder of tuition (this does not include room/board, fees, or books) after factoring in your Benedictine Scholarship, other St. Scholastica scholarships and grants, state grant, and federal grant funding. Outside scholarships may be stacked on top of it to cover room/board, fees, and books. Students who receive this scholarship are required to live on campus their first two years (even if they are from the local area).


Requirements:
  • Applicant must be a new transfer student in the traditional undergraduate program.
  • Applicant must be accepted and know their CSS Student ID to apply (provided on the acceptance letter). **If you have not yet been accepted, we invite you to apply once you have been. Please contact Admissions with questions about your acceptance/ID.
  • Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Applicant must submit the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) to be awarded scholarship.
Instructions for applying

To apply to be considered for the CSSyes Scholarship:

  1. Apply and be accepted to St. Scholastica for the upcoming fall.
  2. We recommend you come for an official visit on the Duluth campus (a personal visit or event).
  3. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov
  4. Upload your scholarship essay answering the following questions (please use a PDF):
    1. Please discuss a particular setback, opportunity or challenge you've encountered in your life which impacted your plans to pursue a college degree.
    2. Describe how receiving this scholarship will benefit you in your studies at The College of St. Scholastica.
Renewal Requirements
  • Student must live on campus their first two years.
  • Student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) by obtaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and a completion ratio of 67% and remain a full-time traditional undergraduate student at St. Scholastica.
  • Recipient must file the FAFSA each year while enrolled

Note: The requirements listed above are effective for all new and current students who accept the scholarship. Failure to complete any of the above requirements will result in the loss of the scholarship.
