Sister Mary Odile Cahoon


Sister Mary Odile CahoonSister Mary Odile Cahoon attended the College and went on to earn two master's degrees from DePaul University and her doctorate in biology from the University of Toronto. During her 50-year career at the College she taught biology, served as department and division chair, Academic Dean, and lastly served as the Senior Vice President until 2004. She was one of the first two women to winter over with the U.S. Antarctic Research Program at McMurdo Station. Sister Mary Odile founded the College's Ireland Study Center in Louisburgh in 1979, and served as its director for 25 years. She died in 2011.
