Sister Alice Lamb


Sister Alice LambSister Alice Lamb, an internationally known botanist, taught at the College for over 50 years. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Chicago and her doctorate from the University of Minnesota. Among the many leadership positions she held at the College were as registrar, academic dean for 14 years, and chair of the biology department for over 30 years. She was listed in the first edition of Who's Who of American Women. She retired from the College in 1970 and died in 1983. The alumni award for notable service to one's profession is named in her honor.
