Sister Johnetta Maher '45


Sister Johnetta-MaherSister Johnetta Maher graduated from the College in 1945 with a degree in home economics, and received her master's degree in education from St. Louis University. Before joining the College's faculty, she taught home economics at both Stanbrook and Cathedral high schools. She became an associate professor in the College's Home Economics Department in 1964. As department chair, she initiated an Early Childhood Education Certificate program, for which she received the Burlington Northern Education Award. She wrote a history of the department, which held an important place in the College through many decades, until cultural changes led to its closing in 1997.
