John Schifsky


John SchifskyJohn Schifsky began teaching at the College in 1969 and retired as an Emeritus Professor in 2010. An English Department faculty member, he served two terms as department chair, and also was chair of the humanities division. He received the Max H. Lavine Award for Teaching Excellence and the Sears-Roebuck Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award. He was most interested in teaching composition and enjoyed working with students to help them develop and refine their writing skills. He also reached beyond the campus to teach about American fiction to groups of teachers as well as to seniors in the Emeritus College program.
