Martha Alworth

Martha-AlworthMartha Alworth, a graduate of Stanbrook Hall, was one of the first lay trustees and Trustee Emerita of the College, serving from 1972 to 1984. She was a community and social activist, and her strong convictions led to her endowing the Alworth Center for the Study of Peace and Justice at the College. She also established the Royal D. Alworth, Jr. Institute for International Studies at UMD and was a benefactor of the arts throughout the Duluth community. All her life she embraced new opportunities for learning through classes, lectures and travel, and made such opportunities possible for others through her generosity.
