Sister Constantina Kakonyi, a native of Hungary, lived in Minnesota from 1950 until 1994, when she returned to Hungary. While at St. Scholastica she divided her time between teaching and creating art. Her works included prints, large oil paintings and works in enamel, copper and other materials. Her subject matter included Saints Benedict and Scholastica, the crucifixion, a Madonna and child, and other Christian themes. She generously donated numerous works; the can be found adorning hallways of the College and the Monastery.
