I came down to the School of Nursing in 1990 and met with Dr. Frances Schall and she spent 2 hours with me mapping out how I could accomplish my dream of a Master's in Nursing. In the fall I started my biweekly trip to Scholastica from Thunder Bay, a 4-hour drive from door to door.

I drove through all sorts of weather and during a snow storm was stuck in Grand Marais for the night. The School of Nursing would call me sometimes and tell me not to come because the weather was too bad. One trip I hit a deer.

I loved it when I arrived at the campus. I always felt a sense of peace and calm and I never wanted to leave -- a great learning experience!

I remember the beautiful chapel where I attended daily mass as much as possible while a freshman. Later I lived in the Nurses' Quarters near St. Mary's Hospital and would attend the 6 o'clock a.m. mass in their small chapel which would get me to breakfast before going on floor duty at 7 a.m.

I remember living in the dorm on the 4th floor in my freshman year with Sr. RoseMarie as our "floor mother." I remember Sr. Penny Penrose and how she cared for us. I remember my speech class that terrified me. I loved my Chemistry class with Sr. Wrbau. Sr. Ann Edwards was my English Composition instructor who may have wished that I was better prepared for college English.

Of course, I loved everything about nursing and helping patients. I remember how we sharpened needles and patched gloves. I especially liked surgery and teaching others.

The College of St. Scholastica prepared me for a healthy life by instilling the values of caring for others. The gentle nature of all my instructors became my role model in later years of my family life and career.

We're looking for memories of St. Scholastica, and we'd like to collect them here. It doesn't matter if you graduated in 1937, 2007, or last spring, we want to hear what made your experience at St. Scholastica something special.

	What are we looking for?

We are looking for photos, videos, audio recordings, written narratives, and other items that can be easily digitized for display on the web. Larger physical items will be more difficult to present in this format, so we encourage you to photograph them and send them to us.
