The 3rd College of St.Scholastica annual homecoming celebration will be held from Oct. 1-3 on the campus.
Homecoming weekend is an activity that welcomes alumni, parents, and students to join in to have fun together with the help of CSS alumni. Family weekend will once again be celebrated in conjunction with homecoming.
“This year the theme of homecoming is ‘Saints Unleashed’, which means that it is a good opportunity for graduated students coming back home to celebrate with other students and their families,” said Lisa Roseth, executive director of Alumni Relations. “We are a big community, so we welcome everyone to join us to celebrate together. It is definitely a college community event.”
This year’s homecoming includes many interesting activities so that all people can enjoy themselves during this homecoming weekend.
“Homecoming Parade, Student Talent Show and homecoming Dance will be popular as usual in the two past homecoming weekend,” Roseth said. “We will hold a football game again in homecoming 2010, which are really popular in the last two celebrations.”
The football game will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. All CSS students will be provided with a game ticket in their on-campus mailboxes. Faculty, staff, alumni, Sisters and parents/families can get their tickets at the registration table in Somers Hall at the tailgate party or at the game.
“The homecoming weekend is a kind of college celebration, which is different from high school,” said Marek Zurawski, a senior, residential advisor of apartment Willow. “People will like it, especially the freshmen, because the homecoming will make them feel that CSS is a family.”
Anar Erdenetsogt, a freshman from Mongolia, will attend the homecoming weekend and said she thinks that it will be a good opportunity to make friends with others and get involved with the American culture.
“Of course I will attend the homecoming weekend, and I am sure I will have fun there,” Anar said. “I never watched a football game before because it is not popular in my country, but I believe that it will be very fun.”
Roseth said that homecoming weekend is an important part of college culture. “Homecoming represents that CSS is a big community and people here united well. We will go on to hold homecoming weekend in coming years, because CSS will be a larger community in the future.”
