The 18th annual CSS talent show will be held in Mitchell Auditorium Oct. 1 at 7p.m. The show, run by the Student Alumni Association (SAA), will be affiliated with the college’s homecoming week for the third consecutive year.
The Student Senate president and vice president usually host the show. Marianne Melecha, junior nursing major and president of SAA, said that the judges this year would be a lot of fun.
The judging panel will consist of 5 or 6 St. Scholastica faculty members. The judge’s job requires picking a first-, second-, and third-place winner and rewarding them with a $100, $75, and $50 cash prize, Malecha said.
Preston Gunderson, junior advertising/public relations major, will be a returning contestant at this year’s show. “The talent show is a good way to promote my music,” Gunderson said.
The school’s 18th annual Young Alumni Achievement Award will be given out this year. This is the first time the award will be presented during the talent show. “It is a new addition to the show,” Carrie Emslander, associate director and associate advisor of SAA, said.
“We want people to come out, because it’s a lot of fun,” Emslander said. “In the past we have filled Mitchell, and we’ve had to put people in overflow seating.”
The SAA could only hope for such a turn out again this year.
