Do I need to do anything to receive a refund when my loan funds post to my account?

Correct. You must complete the refund release form on your Banner Web Self Service  account to authorize a refund.  You only need to complete this form once during your academic career unless you wish to change the authorization. Student refunds are processed after the stated drop/add period each semester. This is typically the third week of the semester.  There is a ten day processing period for refunds.
