Patrick Spott received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota in 1983 and his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, from Hamline University School of Law in 1986. At Hamline he was a law review editor and member of the Silver Gavel Honor Society. Subsequent to graduation he served as a law clerk for the Minnesota Court of Appeals and the Sixth Judicial District in Duluth. He has been in engaged in the private practice of law since 1987 and founded Spott Law Office with attorney Kay Biga. Starting in 2000 Pat has been repeatedly selected by Minnesota Law and Politics as a “Super Lawyer,” recognizing him as one of the top 5% of all lawyers in the State of Minnesota. His high-profile cases have been followed in both the local and national press, and he has appeared on “Court TV” as well as local television. His cases have been featured in Forbes Magazine, the Minnesota Lawyer and other papers and periodicals. A speaker at Continuing Legal Education seminars, Pat has presented on numerous topics, including employment, workers’ compensation, and collection law. He is also a long time Dale Carnegie Training trainer, instructing both lawyers and non-lawyers in applying time-tested principles to measurably improve the confidence, communications, and interpersonal skills of individuals, teams, and organizations. At the College of St. Scholastica his teaching has focused on business law topics. He regularly teaches Legal Aspects of Management to undergraduates and Business Law to graduate students.
