Letter from the Alumni Association President

Winter wishes to my fellow alums.

We're moving through another winter and soon spring will be upon us. The flurry of activity that happens during this time is always exciting as we evaluate the progress on many of our projects and finalize plans to move forward on others. There is much activity occurring within Alumni Relations and your Alumni Association and much renewed interest from our alums.

The newly inducted Saints Heritage Club members came to Opening Convocation last September and talked with current students. The enthusiasm shared with students on campus by these alumni was quite motivating. We're also seeing more interest through the new Alumni Referral Program, wherein many of you have sent in the cards referring potential students whom you feel would thrive at the College. Thanks for sharing your message with them!
We see your interest through the Career Network - many of you have signed up to be available to help our students in their career endeavors. We saw it developing for this February's "No Jobs for Slobs" etiquette dinner for students, cosponsored by the Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Student Alumni Association.

And, we see it in our annual giving for the College's scholarship fund (Tower Fund), where alumni have made contributions so that we can help our students with the cost of school. Alumni giving is a current priority of the Alumni Board of Directors. Over the past 10 years, many of you have been increasing your donations to the Tower Fund. (See the Annual Report) However, as more and more of us have graduated from St. Scholastica, the percentage of alums donating has decreased. Currently, 28 percent of our alumni donate to the College's Tower Fund Campaign. The Alumni Board of Directors has made a commitment to reach out to alumni, encouraging more alums to give whatever amount they are able. We'd like to increase this percentage by 4 percent in the next two years - can you help us? If you are currently a donor to the Tower Fund, thank you. If you are not, your decision to give will have an impact on increasing alumni participation.

"We're All in Tune" is the theme of this June's annual alumni reunion on June 28 and June 29. We're celebrating our success as alums and our enthusiasm to stay connected and "in tune" with our St. Scholastica heritage. The activities we've shared with you above are just a few of the ways you are helping us stay "in tune" and in touch with you!

As we move forward with our projects and our annual goals, we'll be writing and calling many of you over the next few months. If you have stories, thoughts, or ideas to share with us, please don't hesitate to contact us! If you wish, send me a message through alumni@css.edu.

I hope to see you at one of the upcoming events (see "We'll Be Seeing You"). Thank you once again for your continued support of the Alumni Association and of the College.

Take care!
